The upcoming Feast of Atonement, Yom Kippur

The upcoming Feast of Atonement, Yom Kippur, will be observed from the evening of Saturday, September 19th, through the evening of Sunday, September 20th. So prepare yourselves and be ready to set this day apart.

Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, is an appointed day unlike any other—a day of humility, repentance, affliction, and atonement. But why was this day given? Why were the children of Yashar’el commanded to afflict their souls? And what can we learn from the events that surrounded its observance?

In this teaching, we are going to go into the Scriptures and examine the history and instructions surrounding the Day of Atonement, including an important account found in Jubilees chapter 34. We will look at the actions of the sons of Ya’aqov concerning their brother Yoceph, the significance of the tenth day of the seventh month, the instructions concerning atonement, and what it means for us today.
