Lesson Four : The Birth of Noah, the Watchers, and Why God Judged Them

Updated: Feb 1

I will discuss the birth of Noah, who the Watchers were, and why God punished both the Watchers and the children of men. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I pray that the Most High opens the eyes of those who are truly seeking Him—so you may understand the hidden things of the Torah and walk in His wisdom. As Moses said, choose life, that it may be well with you and your family.

Let’s begin!

Noah’s Birth & His Lineage

First, we must understand Noah’s lineage. Noah descended from Seth, not Cain. Enoch—his grandfather—also comes from the line of Seth.

Now, regarding Noah’s physical

appearance at birth:

According to 1 Enoch 105 (Cepher Bible, 3rd edition), Noah’s birth was extraordinary. I encourage you to get a Cepher or any Apocrypha containing Enoch so you can read it fully.

Here is a summary of Enoch 105:1–10, with the direct quotes included:

When Lamech’s wife gave birth,

  • the child’s flesh was white as snow and red as a rose,

  • his hair was white like wool,

  • his eyes illuminated the whole house,

  • and he spoke immediately, blessing the “Lord of righteousness.”

Lamech panicked, thinking the child resembled angels, not humans. He ran to his father Methuselah and said:

“I have begotten a son unlike other children… he is not human… he resembles the offspring of the angels.”

Methuselah then went to Enoch for answers because he dwelled with the angels.

Enoch confirmed:

“The child which is born is his child in truth… there is no deception.” (v. 18–19)

Understanding the Panic: A Visual Example

To help the audience understand why Lamech panicked, imagine this:

A melanated mother gives birth to a child with snow-white skin, white wool-like hair, and eyes that glow like sunlight. Naturally, the family, doctor, and midwife would be shocked.

But if Noah’s parents had been Caucasian, Lamech would not have reacted this way—because such skin tone contrast would not cause alarm.

So according to the text, the context strongly suggests that Noah’s parents were melanated, and Noah appeared as an albino child, leading to the confusion.

Enoch cleared up the matter: Noah was their biological child.

Who Were the Watchers? What Did They Do?

To understand the judgment of the flood, we must understand the Watchers.

In Jubilees 5:1–32 and Genesis 6, we learn:

  • The Watchers (angels of Elohiym) saw that the daughters of men were beautiful.

  • They descended to earth.

  • They took women and had children with them.

  • Their offspring were the Nephilim (giants).

But the Watchers did far more than just take wives.

Their sins became so severe that the cries of the people reached heaven.

So, what exactly did the Watchers do?

What Enoch Says the Watchers Taught

In 1 Enoch 7–8, the Watchers:

  • bound themselves by an oath,

  • descended upon Mount Chermon,

  • and corrupted mankind with forbidden knowledge.

Here is what each angel taught:

  • Aza’zel – swords, knives, shields, breastplates, mirrors, ornaments, bracelets, cosmetics, dyes, precious stones

  • Amazarak – sorcery and root-cutting

  • Armers – the solving of enchantments

  • Barkay’al – astrology

  • Akiybe’el – signs

  • Tamiy’el – astronomy

  • Asarad’el – the motions of the moon

Through this forbidden knowledge:

  • fornication multiplied,

  • wickedness increased,

  • the earth was corrupted,

  • and mankind learned to drink blood, practice magic, and craft weapons.

The offspring of the Watchers—the Nephilim—grew to 300 cubits (approx. 450 feet tall). They devoured:

  • all human food,

  • animals,

  • birds,

  • reptiles,

  • fish,

  • and eventually humans.

The earth was filled with violence, cannibalism, bloodshed, and corruption. And the cries of the people went up to heaven.

The Judgment of the Flood

In Enoch 10, the Most High told an angel:

“All the earth shall perish; a flood shall come… but teach him (Noah) how he may escape.” (v. 4–5)

Notice:

The Most High did not want to destroy mankind entirely.

He wanted to destroy:

❌ the Watchers’ offspring

❌ the corrupted men who followed them

He commanded Rapha’el:

“Bind Aza’zel… cast him into darkness… cover him… and at the great day of judgment cast him into the fire.” (v. 6–9)

And He said:

“Restore the earth, which the angels have corrupted… all the earth has been corrupted by Aza’zel. To him therefore ascribe the whole crime.” (v. 10–12)

God’s Mercy Before the Flood

The Most High still extended mercy to mankind.

In Jasher 5:7–11, God gave them 120 years to repent.

Noah and Methuselah preached daily, saying:

“Return from your evil ways… and the Lord will repent of the evil He declared to do.”

But mankind was stiff-necked and refused to listen.

So the Most High kept His word:

  • He saved Noah (a righteous man).

  • He destroyed the Watchers’ offspring.

  • He cleansed the earth from corruption.

What We Learn

From this study we see:

  • Disobedience began early in human history.

  • The Watchers corrupted mankind with forbidden knowledge.

  • Mankind embraced sin instead of repentance.

  • God judges both angels and humans who rebel.

  • God always gives warning before destruction.

A Warning for Today

For those who choose to reject the Most High’s commandments, laws, and feasts, and instead embrace the festivals and customs of the world—take heed.

God’s laws are not abolished.

Matthew 5:17–19

“Think not that I am come to destroy the law… till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law…”

Deuteronomy 4:2

“Do not add to what I command you nor subtract from it…”

Revelation 22:18–19

Whoever adds or removes from His words will lose their part in the Tree of Life.

Ecclesiastes 12:13–14

“Fear God and keep His commandments… for God will bring every deed into judgment…”
